  • Pet Identification: Every pet dog registered by the municipal body is given a unique identity number which makes it possible to identify them in case they get lost or for any other purpose.
  • Vaccination Tracking: During pet registration, the authorities check the dog’s vaccination records thus ensuring that each dog is getting their mandatory vaccinations.
  • Responsible pet parenting: Registration fosters responsible parenting, as parents of registered dogs are made accountable for the actions of their pet. This enables a harmonious co-existence between all members of society.

How do I register my dog in Ahmedabad?

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has streamlined the process of pet registration through the AMC online portal. Here is a step by step guide:
  • STEP-1: Visit the AMC Website - Go to ahmedabadcity.gov.in and select ‘Pet Dog Registration’ under the Important Links section.

  • STEP-2: Create or Login to Your Account - Choose ‘Login for Pet Dog Registration’. New users need to register their mobile number and verify it with an OTP.

  • STEP-3: Enter Your Details - Fill your personal details such as name, address, and contact number before proceeding to the next step.

  • STEP-4: Select ‘Pet Dog Registration’ - On the next step, you will see the various facilities available via the online portal. Select the ‘Pet Dog Registration’ option.

  • STEP-5: Add Your Dog’s Information - Fill in the below details on the portal
    1. Type of Dog - Choose Pet Dog
    2. Name
    3. Breed
    4. Age
    5. Gender
    6. Photo of our dog
NOTE - Remember to click “Add Dog” to submit these details and move on to the next step. In the second part of the screen you will be able to see the amount payable as registration fees.

  • STEP-5: Upload all the necessary documents - In the same screen, you will need to upload all the supporting documents vaccination records, your address proof, your ID proof and your photograph.

  • STEP-6: Submit the Application - After completing the form, click SUBMIT. You will be shown a pop-up after successful submission with your Dog’s Registration ID. Save this number for future reference.
  • STEP-7: Complete Payment - Navigate to the Pending/Approved Application for Dog Registration section and click the payment button in the Pay column. Once payment is processed, your registration status will change to ‘Payment Completed.’

Once you complete all the steps, expect to receive an email/text from AMC confirming that your pet’s registration is completed. You can then go to the portal your download your pet registration certificate.

What documents do I need for pet registration in Ahmedabad?

To complete the pet registration process, you will be asked to upload the following documents on the AMC portal: 
  1. Aadhar Card (Owner’s ID proof)
  2. Vaccination Certificate (Proof of rabies vaccination)
  3. Your Photo (Passport-size photo of the pet parent)
  4. Dog’s Photo (Clear image of your pet)
  5. Property Tax Receipt (This will serve as your proof of residence)
  6. Electricity Bill (Additional address proof)
  7. Rent Agreement (If applicable, address proof for tenants)

What is the cost of pet registration in Ahmedabad?
