How to Make Egg Shell Powder for Dogs

Prepping time: 05 minutes  
Cooking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
6–7 egg shells, preferably with their inner membrane
1 litre of water for sterilization
 
Kitchen tools:
Stove-top pan
Mixer or Grinder
Ladle

Instructions to Make Egg shell Powder for Dogs

1. Begin by collecting your egg shells. Wash them with soapy water and dry them well before storing them in a sealed bag or container till you have accumulated enough to grind.
2. On your day of cooking, bring about a litre of water to a boil in a pan and let it continue to boil for five to ten minutes.

3. Add your egg shells to the boiling water and allow it to boil it for about ten to fifteen minutes to be properly sterilised.

4. Turn off the heat and take out your egg shells and allow them to dry completely, which should take about an hour or so.

5. Once dry, grind the egg shells using your grinder or mixer to your desired consistency- you can choose to retain a coarse texture or grind it to a fine powder.

6. Voilà! Your healthy and homemade egg shell powder for dogs is ready!

How Much Egg shell Powder Should Dogs Eat?

One gram of egg shell powder contains about 380 mg of calcium for our dogs. The dosage will depend on your dog’s age, breed, current diet, etc. It is best to consult your nutritionist or veterinarian before using.
